SUPPORT OUR SCHOOL
PTO Executive Board + Volunteer Positions for Next School Year

We’re already looking ahead to next year and we need your help!

Many of our experienced parent volunteers will be graduating from Bowman this spring, leaving some big shoes to fill. To continue offering the events, programs, and community-building experiences our families love, we need new volunteers to step in.

Without parent or guardian volunteers, some of our favorite events simply won’t happen—either due to a lack of planners and organizers or the funds needed to support them.

We have an urgent need for volunteers to lead or support the following areas:

  • Co-President (Executive Board)

  • Fundraising, Events

  • Fundraising, Corporate Sponsorship

  • Family Craft Night Lead

  • VP Communications, Outreach (Executive Board)

  • VP Fundraising & Membership (Executive Board)

Whether you can take on a leadership role, join the executive board, or help plan a single event, there’s a place for you and we’d love to have you! No prior PTO experience is necessary—just a willingness to help and be part of our school community.

Interested?
Sign up to volunteer in a specific area or email president@bowmanpto.org with questions.

Together, we can make next year another great one for our students and families!

CORI Check Reminder

Please remember that it is district policy that anyone who volunteers (lunch, Big Backyard, library, Room Helpers, PTO events, etc) in our school must have a CORI check completed by Lexington Public Schools. CORI checks are good for 3 years.

For any questions regarding the CORI check, please email Mrs. Ashness (cashness@lexingtonma.org) or Mrs. Barnes (bbarnes@lexingtonma.org) in our Main Office. Do your CORI check now so you do not miss the fun - this can take up to 30 days!

CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS
Bowman Math Team Update

In January, the 3rd graders took their first Continental Math League test. Five students answered all six questions correctly, and two students scored 5/6. We use the top six scores for the team score, resulting in 35/36. There are 179 schools participating and this score ranks in the top 33% nationally, and is a three-way tie for #2 score in New England. Congratulations to Aleeza B., Alison W., Chenglang Z., Connor G., and Lucas F. for their perfect 6/6 on their tests.

The 4th graders took their third test in January. Their combined score after three tests is 90/108, placing them in the top 16% in the country and still #1 rank in New England. Congratulations to Deniz M. on his perfect 6/6 on this test.

The 5th graders also took their third test in January. Their combined score after three tests is 88/108, placing them in the top 19% in the country and also still #1 rank in New England. Congratulations to Evelyn W. on her perfect 6/6 on this test.

The 4th and 5th grade tests (in the harder Pythagorean division) continue to be more challenging than in years past. Everyone is putting in great effort and should be proud of their accomplishments both in regular class and in the competitions.

FEBRUARY RECAP

We had our first PTO meeting in the new format! Principal Corduck, Asst. Principal Hill, Joan Strodel (Speech Language Pathologist), and Joshua Curhan (2nd Grade Teacher) gave an introduction of the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Curriculum at Bowman and then zoomed into 2 of them in particular: Kimochis Strategies (K -1) and Second Step (K-5). Mr. Curhan even led the group through a full 2nd grade Second Step lesson, which was both informative, fun and full of laughter. We hope you’ll join us for the final PTO meeting of the academic year in May, when our administrative staff will give a presentation on the Classroom Placement process—just in time for summer!
Many many thanks to everyone who helped with the Science Fair! Our Science Fair team worked tirelessly in the background to logistically organize the Science Fair, yes, but supported our young scientists by pulling together helpful reference materials, setting up mentorship sessions with science-minded LHS students, and organizing a presentation and Ask a Scientist/Ask an Engineer tables with “real-live scientists” (oh my!) at the fair itself. The Science Fair also wouldn’t be possible without the parents/guardians who volunteer to be Visiting Scientists to visit each of our young scientists. Finally, thank you to the parents/guardians who supported your young scientists at home so they were able to participate and present with such confidence and ease!

Another round of applause and thank you's to our Staff Appreciation team for leading the charge on always making sure our teachers and staff feel supported and appreciated! The Valentine’s Roses & Sweet Treats Staff Appreciation event has always been a favorite amongst the teachers and staff and this year was no different!
