SUPPORT OUR SCHOOL
Next PTO Meeting

Wednesday, February 4 at 6:30pm

Our next PTO meeting is February 4th, featuring an extended presentation from our school staff and/or administration. Keep an eye out for a survey coming soon through email to gauge interest on presentation themes and topics!

There are two PTO meetings remaining this school year—this next one in February and one in May. Save the date and join us February 4, 2026 at 6:30pm. Stay tuned for more details!

About our New PTO Meeting Format

Each meeting will feature an extended presentation from Principal Corduck, Assistant Principal Hill, and/or other staff members, depending on the topic. Presentation themes will rotate throughout the year and focus on programs, processes, and areas of interest to parents. Meetings will also include dedicated time for open Q&A with school administrators and staff, followed by PTO news and updates.

Safe Routes to School Parent Liaison Needed

We’re also looking for a parent volunteer to serve as Bowman’s Safe Routes to School Liaison. This role works closely with our Bowman staff representative and the LPS Safe Routes to School team to help coordinate fun and meaningful events that encourage students to walk, bike, and roll safely to school.

CORI Check Reminder

Please remember that it is district policy that anyone who volunteers (lunch, Big Backyard, library, Room Helpers, PTO events, etc) in our school must have a CORI check completed by Lexington Public Schools. CORI checks are good for 3 years.

For any questions regarding the CORI check, please email Mrs. Ashness (cashness@lexingtonma.org) or Mrs. Barnes (bbarnes@lexingtonma.org) in our Main Office. Do your CORI check now so you do not miss the fun - this can take up to 30 days!

CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS
Bowman Math Team Update

The Bowman Math Team meets before school. We have 64 students across 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. Each week students come together to solve challenging word problems, take quizzes, and compete in Continental Math League (CML) against other teams from around Lexington, New England, and the rest of the country.

3rd graders take 3 tests during the year, one each month starting in January. Up through now they have been learning multiplication, taking practice tests, and working through problems such as “Joey is 4 years older than Joanna. The sum of their ages is 18. How old is Joanna?” - can you solve it?

The 4th graders took their first of 5 tests in November. Each CML test will have 6 questions, and the team’s score is the sum of the top 6 individual scores from the class. On the first test, 5 students had perfect scores (6/6) and 2 students scored 5/6, meaning the team's score was 35/36. Congratulations to Dahoe K., Deniz M., Ian J., Neil M., and Shreya A. for their performances!

There are 95 schools competing in the Pythagorean division of CML 4th grade (the harder of the two divisions). Bowman's score is the top in New England.

The 5th graders took their first of 5 tests in November. On the first test, 3 students scored 5/6 and 5 students scored 4/6, meaning the team's score was 27/36. There are 105 schools competing in the Pythagorean division of CML 5th grade, and Bowman's score is the top in New England.

Everyone participating should be proud of their accomplishments! And thank you to all the volunteers! We’ll update you again next month.

DECEMBER RECAP

A massive THANK YOU to Cassie Li, Kalpesh Gupta, and Kessie Avseikova–their time and effort behind the scenes to prepare, launch, and wrap up another successful Bowman Auction event is so appreciated! Hearts were racing this year in the final minutes as many items and experiences had multiple last minute bids! Congratulations to all the winners! Also a big thank you to the teachers, staff, Bowman community and greater Lexington business community for their donations that made this auction such a success. We raised over $7000 through the auction this year and every cent of it is going right back into the many staff appreciation, community enhancement, and curriculum enrichment activities we have planned for the rest of the year!

Many endless thank you's to our Staff Appreciation team, Stephanie Roberts, Teri Santos, Kelsey Collins and Natasha Zeb, for coordinating holiday treats for our teachers and staff before December break! Also an extra thank you to Stephanie Roberts for putting together our holiday goodie bags for our admin team. The holidays are already a busy time of year and they fit in a little extra to make sure our Bowman staff feels appreciated!

Shout out to Areej Pirzada for coordinating our December restaurant fundraiser at Frank Pepe’s for another night of Bowman eats out!
